Give some thought to where guests could take cover if it rains, and what would happen to everything else you might have brought onto the roof for the event, including furniture, equipment, and food. You might want to make sure you have large folding umbrellas or an awning, just in case!
Guests at a buffet eat standing up, picking up as much food and drink for themselves as they like. It may be better to have a venue without too much furniture for this, so that people can move around freely as they mingle and eat their fill.
